Busy Busy Busy Heart walk Gym girls and Shaelee's Award

It's very busy around here.  It began last Friday.  Mom was sick, and took a vacation day to get us unpacked.  Lucky me, Shaelee also received an award at school.  Her principal said that these kids had really impressed their teachers.  Ralph and I sat quietly wondering what her award was for.  MATH!  We were very proud of our peanut!

Saturday we got up at 5:30.  Lots of cranky C's grumbling in the back seats.  It was way early, but I promised them breakfast after the Heart Wa*k.  We were walking for Ivy, and we sported our Team Ivy T shirts as well.  We even raised a few funds for the Heart Associati*n.  It was a beautiful morning and a very fun event.  It was also great exercise and some nice bonding time.  Quinn had a soccer game that morning so he and Dad weren't able to make it.  It was so much fun, we will all do it again next year.  Usually when we do these walks, it is just for fun.  But this walk meant so much more.  That's because we have a little friend that is a heart survivor.  And Ivy made that walk so meaningful.

And finally Sunday was our first sanctioned meet.  I love the picture of Shaelee hugging her coach after her vault, because "she did it"!  She is just beginning to compete at this level, and it was a stretch for her.  We even scratched bars because she is still working on that routine.  But she loved every minute of the day.  I was really proud of her.

Emily had a great meet.  A personal best.  I love watching them just do their best and have fun.  I sometimes wish that I could expose them to other sports, but with 5 kids, they can only pick one.  As it is, every day is full, and there isn't much down time transporting all of them to practice and to events.  And now we layer on another practice, as Viny joins a soccer team as well. Yes, we are very busy around here.  Far too much to do, and just not enough time.  Just like everyone else (:
