One Year Ago

One year ago, a brave little girl walked gamely into the Hunan Civil Affairs office. She was clutching a bag of fruit. She had the sweetest little face. I remember trying to pick her up, and she just fell apart. It was just so much for a 4 year old to take in. She was leaving a foster family that she clearly loved. That foster family did the most amazing job. They took such good care of her, they loved her, and I am convinced, that they did all that they could to help with our little girl's transition to her forever family. Shaelee is such a joyful child with a sunny disposition. We are all a bit smitten with this peanut. She was talking about China last week. She remembers her first days with us. We remember how quick she was to bond with her big sister Claire while in China. Now, she hugs us and tells us "I love all of the family." And we love her to pieces right back. It doesn't seem possible that it was a year ago today that we first met our little daughter. Time has just flown by! But what a difference a year makes. Love you sweet girl.

Wow, what a transition for this sweet little girl. You are loved by all of us, Shealani and we are forever grateful to have you as a granddaughter. We are looking forward to being with you again for a few weeks in January and February. We will have a good time with you and our other grandchildren.

Love you much,
Ammy & PaPa

Shaelee you have grown, you have blossomed, and you have fallen in love with your family! I am so glad we all met in China and that now, not only will you and Lexi grow up together but our families are forever friends! I remember how only Claire was allowed to help you get dressed, put on your shoes, touch your hair, hold you, and so on. Now, your are mama's little side kick, such a sweet little mama's girl just like Miss Lexi! Happy one year sweet girl. God created you perfectly and placed you in the perfect family for you! He loves you so much and so do we!!! *The sammons family*

I can't believe how tiny and sad she looks in that picture.. It just breaks my heart when I think about that Civil Affairs office..... But, God blessed us in that room. He allowed us to take care of two of his precious Hengshan girls... Their story is such a miracle. And, a handprint of God's faithfulness... Shaelee is a very special little girl. And, I continue to give thanks that He has allowed us to be part of her life and the life of your precious family. Happy Anniversary Nadi!!! Your buddy was just singing about how much she loves you today!

Hugs from MN,

P.S: I think I have a shirt that matches those pants she has on....
